Youth environmental art, music will be highlighted at tonight's AHA!

Celebrate the freshness of spring at tonight's "Emergence" AHA! Night in downtown New Bedford.

Featured programs this evening, which is sponsored by Domino's Pizza, include New Bedford Public Schools' annual Spring Arts Festival and the Greater New Bedford Earth Eve Procession.Highlights

New Bedford Public Schools annual Spring Arts Festival: More than 2,000 pieces of student artwork on display and performances at the Zeiterion will feature the Elementary Choruses, All-City Middle School Ensembles, and the NBSO's Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The UMD CPVA 2009 MFA Thesis Exhibition at the Star Store (715 Purchase St.) and the UMD Artisanry Exhibition at ArtWorks! (384 Acushnet Ave.)

The annual Earth Eve Eco-Float Procession steps off at 5:30 p.m. and will be moving to the beat of Jamie Eckert's UMD Brazilian Rhythms, NBHS Whalers Marching Band and the NBPS All-City Middle School Marching Band. Funded in part by the SEEAL Fund.

Brick by Brick youth performance: "I Thrive Green Alive," performances at 6 and 7:30 p.m. in the Whaling Museum Theater (19 Johnny Cake Hill). Funded in part by the SEEAL Fund.Exhibits, Talks and More

AHA! artist of the month Rhonda Fazio from Dyermaker Studio (96 William St., second floor): Demo and discussion (5-7 p.m.) of her work and current project, Environmental Alchemy, a grassroots mission to establish a foundation of research for sustainable textile design methods in SouthCoast.

Working Waterfront Festival presents a Fisherpoetry Session in honor of National Poetry Month at 8 p.m. at the Seamen's Bethel (15 Johnny Cake Hill).

New Bedford Art Museum: (608 Pleasant Street) presents "Alive and Moving!," rare prints from John James Audubon's "The Birds of America," curated by Janice Hodson and Louis Doherty. Tonight's "Art at 8" informal tour of the Audubon exhibit with Doherty.

ArtWorks! (384 Acushnet Ave.) Poetry Smackdown from 7:30-8 p.m.

Gallery X (169 William St.) "About-Face," curated by Joshua Nierodzinski. In the Douglass Gallery: Closing reception for "Dreams, Nightmares, and Oddities" by Nived.

Colo Colo Gallery: (25 centre Street) Magaly Ponce, "Cape Verdean Imaginaries."
the garage (79 N. Water St.) Kaleidoscope: a night of color and contrast. With works by David McCluskey and Jessica Boyer.

WHALE and the New Bedford Whaling National Historical Park present an Architectural Preservation Trolley Tour leaving at 6 p.m. from the Visitors' Center (33 William St.).

Under new ownership, Crowell's Fine Art featuring the works of Diane Cournoyer, Peter Dickinson, Kate Levin, Stephen Remick, John Robson and John Vliet, holds a grand re-opening artist's reception from 7-9 p.m.

Judith Klein Art Gallery: (768 Purchase St.) In celebration of spring, create paper flowers with Judith Klein from 6:30-7:30 p.m.

Ocean Explorium: (174 Union St.) The Sphere highlights planet earth's emergence from winter to spring! Plant your own sunflower kits and butterfly life cycle crafts.
The New Bedford Whaling Museum Research Library: (791 Purchase St.) presents a talk about James Arnold by Peggi Medeiros at 6:30 p.m.

The Los Angeles and South Coast based filmmakers of the short film, "Homeland," will be holding a discussion about their bicoastal collaborative effort at NBAM (608 Pleasant St.) from 6-8:30 p.m.

The Green Bean: (740 Purchase St.) presents art work by Delaphine.

Travessia Urban Winery: (760 Purchase St.) The "Culture of Wine" series, locally grown wine tasting and discussion on the art of winemaking.

First Unitarian Church in New Bedford: (County and Union streets) Classical Music Series concert will feature Dennis Shafer, saxophone and Simon Tedeschi, piano, performing works by Bach, Liszt, Rosse, and Percy Grainger at 7:30 p.m.

Cafe Arpeggio: (800 Purchase St.) Featured performer Mark Greenbaum at 6 p.m. followed by regular weekly Open Mic from 7-10 p.m.

Cork Wine and Tapas Bar: (90 Front St.) Spanish Flamenco Guitar with Brian Mello, 6-8 p.m., and the Evan Goodrow Band at 8:30 p.m.
