SEEAL and the Community Foundation team up for joint Annual Meeting and year-end celebration, Thursday, November 18, 2010. The event will start with Community Foundation business, from 5:30-6 p.m., and will be followed by SEEAL’s annual meeting and a presentation from famed environmentalist and pioneer of 350.org, Bill McKibben, at 6 p.m. The event, at the Ocean Explorium in New Bedford, MA, will offer local, nutritious, filling food and beverage, and is free and open to the public—space is limited and will be first come, first served.

About 225 people braved the rain on March 13th, for the Shrink Your Footprint Fair. The free half-day Saturday event was held at the Greater New Bedford Regional Voc Tech High School, and featured workshops for adults, teens, and families on how to live an environmentally friendly lifestyle, economically. Live music, and free food and drink were provided. Exhibitors included over 25 local green businesses, four local schools, and more than 10 SEEAL Partners.

SEEAL to Launch Southcoast Energy Challenge

The goal of the project will be regional reduction of over 100 million pounds of CO2, and the weatherization of more than 10,000 homes, within the first year. Environmental activists urge leaders to think ’350′
October 24th, 2009On October 24th, more than 400 people gathered downtown New Bedford, rallying around a magic number: 350. That’s what world scientists say should be the upper limit of carbon dioxide parts per million in the atmosphere. As part of the 5th Annual Bioneers By the Bay, this rally was one of 5,200 events in 181 countries across the world. Participants were asking world leaders to reduce carbon emissions 80% by 2050.
